Picking up the pieces...

Well before we went to Uncle Buck's house, I made a trip to Illinois (el-uh-noise) to see some other family. Before you venture out to see your yankee kin, prepare yourself! I must say, Thanksgiving is NOT one of my favorite holidays, and I really can't stand seeing my extended family, much less my own family. HAHA ! One thing is for certain tho, thank God that you have a home of your own you can always go to. We weren't going for very long, but it only takes minutes being gone out of state before the homesick mentality sinks in! Yankees tend to scare me.
Thanks to Uncle Buck, I don't think I could have made it through the day yesterday. Buck was the highlight of the night. Cecilia, my lovely cousin/ex wife three-times removed/sister, was gettin' lit, and yes, let's just say things got a little crazy... I have photos! We call CT the 'cat lady' because of her 50 cats she keeps locked up in her attic. The one she calls Jim'Bo (I like to call him Marvo), at any rate, he's the 'lion king' of all the females in the house, and well, she got a little too lit and stuffed the ol boy in the beer box.... said she had an idea for a new pet carrier. Personally, I think she carried the 'idea' a little too far...

Well, she wasn't the only one gettin' her drink on! I told her not to, but when she started feeding a brew to her prized kitty Fluffy, it was on. Now, I don't personally like cats, but this was absolutely insane! Before I knew it, Fluffy was sitting on the couch watching Dirty Jobs, sauced beyond comprehension. I had to put my foot down. I yelled, "Hey you rednecks! It's time to hit the bar!" I wanted to go check out one of our local, respectable pubs, but Uncle Buck, in all his fruty-ness, said "It's the Cursive Q tonight, or I'm walkin' out on the porch nek-kid in front of all of deez naybors!!!" I just couldn't imagine what more the night would hold for us. The more I think about it, I want to believe that we had a great Thanksgiving day... and night. Uncle Buck, for the most part, kept to himself, well, most of the night anyway. CT, being her regular self, danced the night away, and as for myself, did the usual thing when we go out... babysit our wonderful Uncle Buck. I do have to admit, I've never seen pink look so good on a dude, but he makes it look great! Guess that's why we love him, because he is who he is. :oP

Oh, what dysfunctional families we have! It has to leave you thinking both the good and the bad. I'm usually the one left picking up the pieces, trying to figure out, "Was I adopted? Is this really my family? What if the pilgrims shot a cat instead of a turkey? What is going to happen to Fluffy? Will Marvo and Fluffy have kittens? Will Uncle Buck ever get down from the bar tonight? When is it my turn for the spotlight? I want to play the Golden Boy for awhile! Will CT ever forgive me for that day I hit her with the baseball bat? For that matter... will she forgive me for that black eye I gave her Wednesday? Does CT enjoy this sibling brutality??? And finally... the question that eludes us all: Why can't we all just get along?"

Is your family this bad?
